You should always reassure a pet if he or she seems especially nervous.
Case in point, last night, I got turned around going to a meeting in a neighboring town. I called home for directions. Brian, my better half, said, You’re lost? He looked up the address and give me careful directions to get there.
When Brian hung up, he noticed that Benny was looking out the living room window. Benny sat and looked out the window for the next three hours. Brian thought that was odd behavior for the Ben Dog.

Benny
When I arrived home, I was met by a very worried, very happy dog. I got the extra-special-you’ve-been-gone-so-long greeting, with lots of kisses.
Brian said, “It looks like Benny really missed you.”
After I pet and reassured Benny, I asked him, “Why are you so upset?”
“You were LOST,” he said.
Oh, poor Benny! I wouldn’t even think of that!
though it occurs to me that most of the time when I’m lost and use those words, Atlas in the car with me and lost too, so maybe he wouldn’t worry so much.:)
