Yesterday, I spent the afternoon helping the Keizer Parks foundation raise money for their new dog park. Next weekend, I’m raising money for Project Pooch. People show up and spend $5-10 to talk with their pet for 5-10 minutes, and all proceeds go to the nonprofit.

I like events like this because it allows me to talk with many dogs for a very short amount of time, and enact a little bit of positive change in a lot of lives.

So, yesterday was mostly good. Lots of lovely dogs, mostly of the terrier variety. I saw one of my favorite dogs, Gabby, who requested more time down by the river to hang with the ducks.

Gabby

And then my heart broke a little.

A young woman walked up with a dog whose name we will change to protect the innocent. Let’s call her Sukie. She was a sweet dog. She looked like a mix between Cairn terrier and a scottie.

“My mom wants to know why her dog is so vindictive and annoying.”

Sweet Jesus.

Really? REALLY?

It’s like somebody asking, “Why is my toddler such an asshole?”

So, I talked with this dog, whose attitude was slightly cool and quiet.

“I’m not vindictive,” she said. “I just don’t see why I have to give in all the time. It’s not like she actually cares about me.”

Lucky Relationships

Those of us who have dogs and who have relationships with our dogs, where we actually see them as friends, we’re the lucky ones. Our dogs are lucky. We’re lucky. Not everybody knows how to do that. They see people with great dogs and they just assume that the people got a great dog, and here they are, stuck with this dog that acts like a jerk.

That’s not how it is at all. This little terrier is a perfectly acceptable, decent and friendly dog. Her owner just didn’t know how to have a relationship with her. That’s sad for everybody involved.

It would be so easy for me to see this as a character flaw on the part of the owner. But really, it’s just somebody who doesn’t know how to have a relationship. That’s somebody who needs help, not judgment (as much as I like to judge people. I am human, after all).

Fixing This Problem

I recommended a book to Sukie’s owner. It’s called “Bones Would Rain from the Sky: Deepening our Relationship with Dogs” . Suzanne Clothier writes beautifully about how to have a positive relationship with your dog.

If your relationship comes naturally, if you have an easy, awesome wonderful appreciation for your dog, you are lucky. Your dog is lucky. I am lucky to know you.

If yours doesn’t, you’re in luck, because Suzanne lays it out beautifully in this book. For $10, you can learn how.

And if you need more than that, consider a session with me. I can help you understand your dog.

Remember, it’s up to you to have that good relationship. What can you do today to deepen it?

Hey Friends-

It’s Bridget.

I’m changing how I do things around here.

I love working with pets. I especially love pet cases where I can make a significant difference in the life of the pet in question.

So, I’m changing who I work with, and how much I charge.

As of September 1st, I will take new clients on a case-by-case basis. Each new client session is $250. I will choose the client cases that are the best fit for my work. For $250, you get up to 2 hours of my time.

If the case is not one that’s a fit for me, I’ll recommend another animal communicator to you.

Why am I limiting my practice?

I’m REALLY GOOD at what I do. I want to work with my current clients and with new clients that I can really help. I like to help the difficult cases. I like to help motivated owners.

And…I find that the best way to help animals sometimes is to help people. If I can make people better, animal situations get better.

People who hire animal communicators have pretty good relationships with their pets already.

So, I’m working with people, and providing intuitive guidance to them. This is where I can really help people and pets. This is where I can really make the world a better place.

I still want to work with my current clients, because I love them. They are all awesome. And I want to help the pets that really need me moving forward.

So Who’s a Current Client?

Anybody that I’ve worked with before.

If I have worked with any pet of yours, I will talk with any pet of yours. You are a current client.

Current Client Session Changes

Moving forward, a current client session is $110. It’s 45 minutes of my time with you, plus about 20 minutes with your pet, prior to our call. I will not be doing shorter sessions than that. I wish I had the time and head space to do so. I don’t.

What about Grief Calls?

I’ve done a lot of work with end of life and grieving pet parents. I’d like to continue this work. If you are dealing with an end of life issue, or you’ve recently lost a pet, and you’re not a current client, and you’d like to work with me, please email me. In these situations, I typically charge the current client rate.

Workshops

I’m offering my intuitive animal communication course one last time in October. Please join me. I will not be teaching this in the foreseeable future. I might bring it back when I have time again, but probably not. Life is short.

A Little Advice

If you want to work with me in the next year, and you’re not a current client, buy a session now. Each session is good for a year. Simply hit the Returning client button on the Consult page. I’m happy to add you to my roster.

Deep Love

I love you. Thanks for understanding. You can contact me anytime at bridget@petsaretalking.com

Just like doctors and mothers and other important vocations, intuitive animal communicators get it wrong sometimes.

Sometimes we get it way wrong.

This happened to me yesterday. I was working with a dog that had passed away. Her name is Bliss.

She told me that she wouldn’t be coming back for 2 years. She told me that her mother’s head hurt. She told me that her mother would know that it was her. All of these details flowed out of her with clarity and ease.

I should have known when she showed me a picture of herself and she didn’t look anything like the dog I was supposed to be talking to. That should have been a big red flag.

Trouble

About 3 questions into the conversation with her owner, things were not resonating. At all. Things didn’t feel right. The owner was trying to make sense of my words and I was just frustrating her.

She thought her dog would come back much sooner. She knew it. She knew it in her heart. The description of the dog’s personality didn’t match who I was describing. She didn’t have a headache. She was fine.

I was wrong

It dawned on me that I didn’t have this right. I was making a mistake.

I said, “You know what, this isn’t lining up. This isn’t resonating. I think I’ve got the wrong dog.”

I expected her to yell at me, or cry.

The most important time to get things right is when dealing with a grieving owner, and I was not getting it right.

She said, “Thank you for your honesty.”

I said, “Of Course!”

I said, “Let’s try this again tomorrow. I’d like to try and reach your dog. I think I have the wrong dog here. I’m talking to a dog and it’s not your dog.”

She said, “Okay.”

I thanked God for this owner. I just thanked God that she was so gracious to me.

This Morning

This morning, I hopped out of bed, and did an extended prayer, cleansing and grounding ritual to attune myself. I was worried for a second, and then I realized that this all wasn’t about me. My ego left the room, and I felt connected.

I reached out to Bliss (the dog), and I reached out to her owner energetically and said, Help me connect to her.

And there she was.

The dog is in a womb. She’s warm. She’s sleeping. She’s a few weeks yet away from being born. Being in the womb is awesome. You don’t even need to worry about breathing. It’s hushed and warm and you feel bathed in a deep love.

I got some details on the mother. She was worried that it was a big litter of puppies. She had recently experienced snow and did not like it. I asked for a picture of her and saw a grey-brown speckled dog. I asked if she was an aussie. I got a “yes”.

It’s rare to experience womb life as an animal communicator. I’ve only experienced it twice before. And it makes sense that I didn’t find her yesterday, because she was neither on the other side or here. She’s tucked away in a belly, waiting to be born.

I think I needed this lesson. I’m thinking about what I bring to intuitive animal communication, and how I can bring it even better.

I definitely needed a little womb time.

I’m looking forward to hearing about the new finding of Bliss. I’m hopeful that she and her owner reconnect with ease.

I love the Go-Go’s. I remember when they appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in their underwear. I thought that was so cool. I wanted to be on the cover of Rolling Stone in my underwear!

So, when a mutual acquaintance introduced me to Jane Wiedlin, I was a little starstruck.

I told my friend, Woods, about it. He said, “Tell Jane that she’s always been my favorite Go-Go!”

I said, “I bet she gets that A LOT.”

“Yeah,” he said.

I’ve had famous clients before, and I think it’s important to respect the privacy of these clients, but Jane is so kind, she told me that I could her dogs’ experience and also, I think they have an interesting story to tell beyond the fact that they are Jane’s dogs.

Meet Malcolm and Angus

That’s Malcolm on the Left and Angus on the Right.

They are brothers and they had several homes before Jane adopted them.

Jane calls them her “two-headed hydra” because they go to the dog park and sometimes they terrorize other dogs. Also, they were upset when they had to meet new people. Could we work something out?

I talked with Malcolm first. He was interesting. He shared with me that he didn’t like people that “weren’t cool”. He showed me someone that he thought was cool. He showed me a man with reddish brown hair and black framed glasses. I wondered if the glasses were as prominent in real life as they seemed to Malcolm. Malcolm said that this was Jane’s friend.

When I told Jane, she sent me this picture of her boyfriend Travis. She thought it was funny that Malcom referred to Travis as her friend.

See! See the glasses? Yeah, they are pretty awesome.

Little Dogs and Aggression

Malcolm told me that he didn’t like it when people treated him like “My Little Pony”. He found that “emasculating”. So, he didn’t like that. Little dogs tend to be perceived as cute and sweet, and not as small but intelligent dogs. When dogs have been treated this way, they start to act out.

Also, they are small, so being around big feet and being manhandled is stressful.

The Window

Angus told me that he “likes to express himself aggressively”. He enjoys picking on smaller dogs.

I said, “Hey, those dogs have feelings. What do you think about that?”

Angus said, “Well they aren’t my feelings, so I guess I’m okay with it.”

Angus and Malcolm are not bad dogs. They are dogs that lived in situations where they weren’t treated with respect. They didn’t learn about the feelings of others because their own feelings weren’t respected.

So, now, there is this window of appropriate behavior that Jane must find them in. The window is when they aren’t acting out of fear and also when they aren’t acting out of a desire to “express themselves aggressively”.

I think, in time, they will learn to respect the feelings of others. They’ll also learn that they are safe with Jane and Travis and the people in their home.

I suggested a positive training technique to lower their anxiety around new dogs and people. It involves giving treats to Malcolm and Angus when they are in the presence of new dogs, but not so close to them that Jane can’t keep their attention.

I really enjoyed talking with these two.

Hello, I’m Bridget and this is my good friend, Olive.

I started talking with animals about 7 years ago.

I had a weimaraner named Beaulah who was grieving her first home.

I woke up in the middle of the night and thought, “Why am I awake?”

Then I felt a deep pain in my heart. I looked over in the dim light and saw Beaulah sitting up on her dog bed.

I heard her say, “What did I do?”

I said “What?”

She said, “What did I do that he made me leave home and come here?”

She had been put into foster care after her owner of 9 years ditched her for a fiance that hated dogs.

“Oh Beaulah!” I said, “That guy was a jerk. You didn’t do anything! You’re our Beaulah and we love you.”

Beaulah sadly settled down and fell asleep. I sat by her dog bed and thought, “What was that?”

That was the beginning of my journey. Beaulah lived with us until the ripe old age of 13. She learned to really love her life with us.

I honed my skills over several years, with over 75 case studies and hundreds of conversations.

Best News Ever

The best news ever is this: we can all do this.

Granted, I talk with hundreds of pets a year. I’ve had a lot of practice. I am very good at what I do.

But, what I do, you can do. We’re all born with intuitive gifts. Just as we breathe and read and cook, we can use our intuitive skills to help one another.

What I do

I have in-depth conversations with animals. I do spiritual healing with animals. I help pets and their people to get through the rough spots in their relationships. I help people when their pets pass away.

I love what I do. I love being able to help people all over the world. I love to see how well people take care of their pets. It’s a joy to watch and an honor to support!

I also teach workshops on intuitive animal communication.

My Family

I live with some pretty awesome people.

Here’s my sweetheart Brian.

We have 3 kids: Evan (21), Rubin (19) and Ike (12).

We also have 3 dogs, 3 cats and a horse named Ed.

We live in Portland, Oregon and like to cook, hike, and play board games.

A consultation conversation is an opportunity for you to talk with your animal companion. You can resolve problems in your relationship or just find out what your pet is thinking about.

How It Works

We schedule your appointment (usually I’m booked a week or so out. Sometimes more. There’s always room for emergencies).

I start with a list of questions from you and a picture of your pet. Then I tune in and talk with your pet. I keep extensive notes that read like a transcript of the conversation. On the same day, I call you (via phone or skype, your choice) at our agreed-to time. We talk together and I ask any follow-up questions that naturally extend from our conversation.

Typically, I spend about 45 minutes with the pet and another 45 minutes with the owner.

Fees

For an animal communication session, I charge $110.

If your pet is dying or has passed away, I offer a shorter session for $55.

If you are a current client and you want to check in on a pet that I’ve already talked with, I offer a shorter session for $55.

How to Schedule

Simply click on the add to cart button. This will send you to paypal, which will enable you to pay for your consultation using visa, mastercard or paypal.

I will contact you within 24 hours of payment and ask you for your pictures and questions. I’m usually much quicker than 24 hours.

What is Intuitive Animal Communication?

Intuitive animal communication is the act of exchanging information with an animal through the sharing of energy. Telepathy is the ability to receive and understand that energy cognitively.

Everyone intuitively communicates with their pets. We pick up information all the time about how they’re feeling and what they’re thinking. Most people chalk this up to interpreting their pets’ body language, but there is something deeper going on.

Telepathic information can be received in 8 different ways:

1. Clair-audience: Hearing words

2. Clair-voyance: Seeing pictures, movies and symbols

3.Clair-empathy: Experiencing another’s feelings

4. Clair-cognizance: clear knowledge of a situation or history

5. Touch- experiencing physical sensations (pain, etc.)

6. Taste- experiencing what the animal tastes (not always a pleasant experience!)

7. Smell- experiencing what the animal smells

8. Inner-body experience- when it feels like you’re actually the animal

This isn’t some woo-woo psychic skill. It’s simply the sharing of energy, the same way that you share energy when you talk on a phone or look in someone’s eyes.Telepathy is not magic. It’s simply tuning your inner radio to the energy of others.

Do you have to be in the same room with my pet?

No. I have talked with animals across town, across the country and across the ocean.

How can animal communication help me?

There’s nothing better than hearing things straight from your pet’s mouth. This is especially true when you and your pet are experiencing a behavioral or medical problem.

Even if your pet is a saint, it can be very rewarding to hear their thoughts and emotions. Most people who experience animal communication feel closer to their pets.

I’m not a vet and I don’t give out medical advice, but I can help you understand where your pet hurts, and whether he or she is ready to pass away.

If your pet has passed away, I can reach over to the other side, and help you with the transition. This is very helpful.

Will my pet tell you my secrets?

They will tell me what matters to them. They will tell me what makes them happy. They will tell me what they need. I’ve never had a pet share anything about bedroom activities or bodily functions.

Can you help me find my lost pet?

Yes, but I recommend that you invest your money in signs and your energy in prayer first.

If your pet doesn’t know where she is, then I can’t do much to get her home. I can share information about whether she is alive, but that doesn’t usually make an owner feel better.

How much is a consultation?

For a 30-minute consult, I charge $50. For a 60-minute consult, I charge $100. I spend roughly a third of the time with the animal before I talk with the owner. So, essentially, on a 60 minute consult, it’s 20 minutes with the animal and then 40 minutes with the owner and animal together.

I write notes of the conversation to help you hear it in your pet’s voice, and also to help you keep track of what your pet says.

To get started, click here.

Do you teach animal communication?

Yes. Everybody can learn to talk with their animals.

I teach workshops in-person and online. To learn more, visit here.

What can I do to make my relationship with my pet better?

I am so glad you asked this question. Here are four ways that you can make your pet’s life better:

Attention and Appreciation.

Turn off the TV. Turn off your computer. Turn to your pet. Tell her that you love her. Ask if you can pet her. Tell your pet how much you appreciate her.

Purpose.

Your pet should have a purpose in his life. I have a cat that patrols my house and kills rodents. I have another one that lies on my shoulder whenever it hurts. One of my dogs is like a shadow. His job is to be my constant companion.

If your pet has given himself a job, thank him for it. If he needs a job, tell him that you’d like him to do something for you. It can be something as simple as sitting at your feet, or greeting you at the door. Everyone’s life should have meaning, whether you’re the leader of the free world or a goldfish.

High-Quality Food.

Go to a specialty food store and get your companion some good food. Take the time to read the back of the bags. Check out The Dog Food Project for more information about what to feed.

Feed your cats a high-protein, no-grain diet. Cats can’t digest grain. Whenever you feed them a food with grain, the grain goes through their body and into the litter box. Feed them a high-protein low-grain food and they’ll eat less food since they are able to metabolize more of the food they eat.

I feed my pets Orijen pet food, but there are many good foods on the market. It costs less than $3 a day to feed my two dogs and three cats.

A pet on a good diet has fewer health concerns. So your money ends up in your pet’s health and not in the vet’s pocket.

Spay or Neuter your Pet.

It makes a big difference. They feel better. You guarantee that you’re not adding unwanted animals to the pet population.

Feel the difference here. A neutered pet with a healthy diet, a purpose and personal attention is a pet whose needs have been met. He’s connected to you because you’ve made the effort to make his life healthy and comfortable.

Do you have to be in the same room with my pet?

No. I have talked with animals across town, across the country and around the world.

How Does That Work?

Energy is not limited by matter. You experience this when you talk on the phone. You can talk to someone around the world just by punching in a phone number.

Each animal and person has their own unique energetic frequency. I tune into that frequency. Pets can be literally anywhere, including on the other side.

If you’re talking to an animal in another country, an animal that doesn’t speak English, do you hear it in English?

I hear it in English.

How can animal communication help me?

Want balance? Want a better relationship? Want your pet to stop destructive behaviors? Want to support your pet through a hard time? Want help grieving?

These are the main reasons why people seek out an animal communicator.

I work out the rough spots with pets.

Sometimes difficult behavior is just a difference in values. Your dog doesn’t understand that it’s not okay on jump on people.

Sometimes bad behavior is a sign that something is out of balance.

By including your pet’s opinion in developing a solution to a problem, your odds of a successful outcome are improved.

Other times, you may want to involve your pet in medical decisions. I often work with pets that are going through cancer treatments. Their owners want to know how they’re doing.

Or perhaps your pet is grieving the loss of another pet.

Or your kid has gone to college and your pet is still looking for him.

Or your pet is dying and you want help with the transition.

Anytime that you are thinking, “Geez, I wish I knew what she would say…” that’s the time to hire an animal communicator.

Can you answer training questions?

Absolutely. Whether we’re talking about horses, cats, dogs or even birds, I can give you advice about how to teach and reinforce good behaviors.

I like positive training techniques with non-abusive, consistent consequences.

For example, I teach people how to curtail barking, how to get their cats to stop spraying, how to introduce horses, and how to integrate pet households.

If you’ve got a problem, I’ve encountered it with my clients, and I can teach you how to resolve it in your home.

Can you help me find my lost pet?

I’m sorry. I don’t help people look for lost pets. I’ve done it. I’ve even helped get some home, but I’ve had too many experiences where I found the pet alive and couldn’t get the pet home. Watching an injured or lost pet go through their final days is emotionally difficult. I have instead focused my practice on working with living pets and pets that have passed away.
